we have board permission to install vinyl plank flooring in entry and kitchen of 2nd floor condo with 1/2" cork underlayment to reduce sound (getting this ok was not easy!). our flooring store said eternity sg underlayment, a polypropylene hyrid foam, would perform better and be cheaper than the cork ($1 sq/ft v $6 sq/ft).
