californiadecks thanks for asking. the ledger in question was an 8' long portion of a low deck improperly attached to an existing cantilever 20" above grade. the solution here was to lower the small section of deck and attach to block wall under the cantilever and step down from patio door. top of new ledger is now 14 inches above grade.
